Spot Thomas in His Yellow Pantera
My name: Thomas
My age: 38
Screen name: CycleBadBoy
City/town: Los Angeles
Relationship status: single
Sexuality: Gay
What is the thing you like best about your ride?
How loud it is, and the age is like me -- better than new.
Do you like to take road trips in your car? Describe your favorite road trip -- where did you go? What did you do?
Drove from Chicago to Elkhart Lake, Wis., Road America. Two hundred eighty-five miles to watch the Vintage Races.
Do you like tinkering under the hood, or do you leave repairs and routine maintenance to your mechanic?
All the time since I was 15 I have worked on cars. I did a lot of the restoration on the Pantera.
What special touches have you added to your car that reflect your personality and individuality?
Leather interior. Exhaust. The color. The boldness, like myself.
What is the most you’ve ever paid for a car? What is the most you would ever pay for a car?
Eighteen thousand dollars for this one. The most would be just under $1 million for a Cobra.
Do you have a great memory of a date that relates to you car? Describe that night (or day).
Years ago In my Shelby Mustang, having sex with my lover in the back rear shelf, parked on the side of a Wisconsin country road and having a people drive by and honk their horn.
Do you find yourself more attracted to people with car tastes similar to your own? Or doesn’t it matter?
Doesn't matter.
If you had an unlimited budget and could change anything you wanted on your car, what modifications or accessories would you add?
All I need is a new set of tires. I can get them soon.
Do you think your car has a personality or soul? What kind of sound or behavior does it have that makes it unmistakably your car?
Hell yeah. It’s all me: bold, strong, friendly, and full of muscle, that has no fear.
Do you have a nickname for your car?
No.
Have you upgraded the car stereo? What is your "dream" sound system?
No. The stereo is the sound of 400 Ford horsepower with not much of an exhaust. Put on your iPod.
What aspect of your ride most attracted you when you decided to own and drive it?
Since I was a little boy it was my dream car. The fact that a man in Italy, Alejandro De Tomaso, could have a car designed as nice as this, put a Ford V8 and drivetrain, ship and sell it at a Lincoln Mercury dealer, that blew the doors off of Vettes and Ferraris, for only $9,500 new in 1972.
Have you ever pushed your car to its performance limit?
What was the fastest speed? One hundred forty-five mph.
Are you a member of any car clubs or other auto-related organizations?
Yeah
What was the first car you ever had? Do you ever get nostalgic for it?
First car, no -- it was a beater. But I still own my Shelby Mustang that I bought years ago. Can't get rid of it.
If you could trade your ride in for any other car, what would it be, regardless of the price?
Leather interior. Exhaust. The color. The boldness, like myself.
Eighteen thousand dollars for this one. The most would be just under $1 million for a Cobra.
