Michael Buckley's guide to his secret town in Connecticut
Presented by Las Vegas
The celebrity YouTube vlogger chats about a few of his favorite, local places, events and things in the town he'd prefer not to name.
Name: Michael Buckley
Age: 33
Profession: Internet celebrity
City: A secret town in Connecticut
Relationship Status: Married
Sexuality: Gay
What are some of the things you love most about your secret town?
I grew up here, and I'm not someone that goes out. But I'm comfortable here, and that's the most important thing. I have a lot of family here and I like going to the supermarket I grew up in. It's very comforting. I do everything out of my home, which is nice. When I do go out, I like getting home to my house and four dogs. I'm very settled and very sheltered and I like it that way. If I want to go to New York City, all I have to do is take a train.
What are some of your least favorite things about your secret town?
I'm not a complainer. Didn't you read 'The Secret.' You don't say bad things about where you live... but bad things about Britney and Miley, that's another story. But I really like living here, so I have nothing bad to say.
What gym do you like most in your secret town? Why?
I don't go to the gym. God no... do I need to go? I look awesome... I used to go in just so I could tan. When the people there asked me if I ever plan on working out, I said, "Look at me, I'm perfect."
What are some great restaurants for a night out with gay friends in your secret town?
I have a very bland palate. I don't appreciate fancy food. Even in New York, I look for McDonalds, and even if I do eat fancy food, I eat McDonalds or a bowl of cereal afterwards. I like Frosted Flakes, turkey and mayo, and never anything like sushi. I like Chili's and Applebee's -- all the good stuff. Gay people are all into wines and food that they don't even know how to pronounce... that's so gay. I'm not interested in being a celebrity. I'm thrilled to be doing what I'm doing, because I love talking about the lives of celebrities, because they're so absurd.
What is the gay community like in your secret town? Do you consider yourself to be part of any particular "scene"?
I really don't go out much. I'm really not qualified to talk about this. I'm sure there's a gay community in New Haven and one in Hartford, but I haven't been to a bar in the last two years.
Do you have a particular fashion style? Where do you shop for clothes?
I like simple clothes, now that I'm older and smarter. I used to buy ugly shirts that I thought looked cute, like maybe I'll wear this to a gay bar, 'cause you gotta get the gay shirts. Now I'm more into blazers, because there's nothing worse than a 33-year-old man in a Hollister shirt. I still shop at American Eagle, however, because their t-shirts fit so well.
Where do you go for other forms of entertainment -- live theater, concerts, movies, art exhibits? Are there any local gay performance groups, bands, or artists that you're a fan of?
I've always enjoyed listening to and participating in musical theatre, growing up. From 2001-05, I was going to every show on Broadway, like 'Wicked' and 'Avenue Q,' but I haven't gone recently 'cause I've been so busy 'What the Buck?'-ing.' I still listen to it in the car non-stop, but I don't cover it on 'What the Buck?' You'll never see me making fun of Patti LuPone, because I really respect people who do that for a living.
What city (or cities) in America would you most like to visit next, and why? Are there any specific spots there (theaters, nightclubs, historic sites, etc.) that you'd really like to see?
The only reason to go to any international city is for the Olympics. But not the Gay Games. If I wanted to see gay people, I could just sit at home and watch TV.
From local public access show regular in 2005, where he developed his celebrity news parody show "What the Buck?" to YouTube star (thanks to his cousin's decision to post those segments on the video website), blogger-vlogger Michael Buckley's "SNL News" and "The Soup"-style commentary have turned him into the next generation of gay celebrity. Aside from his YouTube vlog, he appears regularly on E's "Daily 10" and will soon be seen on Sony's Internet minisode network. LOL....
I have to agree with Michael regarding living in a "secret town" within CT. since my partner and I also live in a "secret town".
Our friends from NYC call it the witness protection section. What we love about it is that it is just so far removed from the life style of NYC.
Very true, when I stay in NYC I miss and love the City, yet as stupid as it may sound I especially love watching and seeing "my birds" that either come each day or each season.
For myself, each section has it's own unique charm and the residents are wonderful.
Heck, the State just legalized Same Sex Marriage, so how wonderful is that!

Why is gay.com wasting space with this "internet celebrity" is my question.
His whole review is filled with "I really don't go out much. I'm really not qualified to talk about this," and, "I have a bland palate," followed by "I look for McDonalds" when it came to reviewing eating establishments.
Basically, its a useless travel review filled with what this "internet celebrity" likes and dislikes about himself, not the location he's reviewing.
