Military man: Mike in New Brunswick

Meunifor_2My name: Mike
My age: 21
My profession: Student, and Military Officer
City/town: Fredericton, New Brunswick
Relationship status: Single
Sexuality: Gay
Member name: rodeo_mike

What are some of the things you love most about Fredericton?

I love how simple it is. Everyone is very liberal minded and open to everyone else. Apparently, according to unknown sources, Fredericton has more gay people per capita than San Francisco. Who knows ...

Are any famous people from your town?

That baseball player Matt Stairs who's team won the world series this week, the man famous for 'having his ass hammered by the guys'.  Just youtube it.

If someone came to your town for just four hours, what is the one thing he should do?

Definitely checkout the downtown, King and Queen Street, loads of local shops and big names, all on a riverfront setting.

02_2What are some great restaurants for a night out with gay friends?

The Blue Door, classy food with HOT servers. Snooty Fox Pub, Wednesday nights are best, great crowds. Isaac's Way, cute little Italian bistro, displays and sells local art, beautiful!

What are some great restaurants for a romantic gay date? What about these restaurants appeals to you?

Without a doubt, the Back 9... hidden off King St. Beautiful inside.

What are your favorite gay bars and/or dance clubs?

No question, Boom! Nightclub on Queen St. Easily the best nightclub east of Boston. Thursdays karaoke, Fridays crazy wild circus night, and power Saturdays. I'm also a resident DJ, come out to see me spin.

What are your favorite gay parties or events in your town, if any? What is the crowd or scene like at those places?

They have a little pride celebration, its barely a blip on the map, but it draws in a large crowd. Other than that, the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival brings in people from all over the Continent for a jazz festival that spans the entire city.

Where is the best public place for a gay person to make out there?

The beauty of Fredericton, anywhere you want... Nobody will even look twice, unless they like what they see!

What is the gay community like there? Do you consider yourself to be part of any particular 'scene?'

The scene is very 'college boy prep'. Fredericton is a huge university city with lots of younger college boys, looking for Mr. Right, or Mr. Right Now.

Mepose1Where do you go for other forms of entertainment -- live theater, concerts, movies, art exhibits? Are there any local gay performance groups, bands, or artists that you're a fan of?

I love the arts scene here, they recently did a rendition of 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' at the playhouse, downtown at midnight! Hundreds of queers straits and bi's came out for an amazing show. I recently saw Blueman Group and Girlicious, both preforming on campus.

If you had gay friends visiting from out of town for the first time, what are some 'must-dos' you'd recommend?

Just walking downtown, feeling the vibe of a truly FRIENDLY city. Walk along the river and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Is there a local cocktail that's popular in your town?

Dave Matthews. No not the band/singer. It's a strange cocktail and it always leaves you wanting more.

Where do the hot boys in your town tend to hang out?

On campus of course, sometimes downtown, on the slopes (Crabbe Mountain), at the mall, and the usual places.

If you had to describe the 'average gay boy' style of your town in two words, what would they be?

Twinks, Preps, and Jocks.

What bar has the cutest/hottest bartenders?

Boom! by far. The service there is out of this world, between the fancy tricks, and amazing personalities, they're hot hot hot.

Me1_2Do gay men and lesbians hang out together in your town or is that just unheard of?

Of course, its just a normal thing, having only one gay bar.

Do you have a hometown crush?

Of course, but it's one of those untouchable things. Someday I'll get the courage. Haha ...

What was the last vacation you took?

Well, as a starving student, I haven't yet. I'm saving up to go to a gay resort in Cuba with a bunch of friends in April... Hopefully that works out!! Someday I want to go to Europe (England, France, Budapest etc.) And check out their culture, especially the night-life.
