What's Gay About His Town? Your Town? We Want to Know!
Who is this man, and what's gay about the city or town he lives in? Wouldn't you be curious to find out? I sure would...
Our new Reader's Guide's are catching on, and it's no wonder -- whether you realize it or not, you're likely living a gay life that thousands of others would find interesting.
For instance -- Justin may not think he lives an interesting gay life in Omaha Nebraska, and Jeffrey may think his daily routine in Northfield, NJ pales in comparison to SF, the "gay mecca" of the world. But I think they're wrong.
If you're still not convinced the gay life you're living in America is insteresting, take 5 minutes right now to check out the Reader's Guide Archive.
See? I bet you can shed the same kind of interesting take on gay life in your town as did Nicholas, Timm, Bob, Will and all the other "regular" gay men who submitted their own Reader's Guides.
Even gay celebs have gotten into this. Ted Allen, Dave Koz, Jai Rodriguez and Perez Hilton are just a few of the gay stars who've given us private tours of gay lives in their towns -- and it's fun. You can read them all here.
So enough prodding. If you're now ready to tell us about your gay town and be featured on our sites, the next part is as easy as it is fun. Just answer as many or as few of the answers below as you like. When you're done, send them and at least two pictures of yourself to letterstotheeditor@planetoutinc.com. Also include your Gay.com member name.

the only thing gay about my town, (atwater, ca) is the massive amount of yes on 8 signs that are being littered all over the town on people's lawn. Plus all the weird activists trying to shut down gay marriage. its absolutely villifying.

Not much gay about my town. Just one small gay bar and a huge selection of married men always looking for no strings hookups. I swear either all the gay men here go to another town or everyone is hiding from the married guys.

I moved to Atlanta a year ago with the thought that it is a new environment to explore. Atlanta has a lot to offer but it is the same mentality I've met and dealt with in Boston. Do NOT take me wrong, there are very good people here as well as in Boston but what is it the drives people to be mean when it come to being gay? My conclusion is Gay Men hate competition because it is such a very small microcosm of that small pea of a brain. This mean-ness is driving several peeople I know out of Atlanta.

Historically, my neighbourhood here in Toronto, Ontario, CANADA has been 'gay' since the 18th century. Originally the neighbourhood was called "Molly Wood's Bush" after a famous 18th/19th century man Alexander Wood (Molly was a derogatory term for a gay man at the time) who owned the land and got caught up in a scandal with same sex inuendo and had to flee the country. He returned later. The neighbourhood then was, bascially, bush land. Gay men of these times would cruise the bushes. Later in the 20th Century the land developed and became part of the city of Toronto and the gay business neighbourhood moved about block further west to Yonge Street and Wellesley Streets. During the mid to late 20th Century the national broadcaster, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporiaton (CBC) had studios and offices here along with the National Ballet of Canada which attracted an artsy and gay crowd to the Church Street bars and restaurants. By the 1980s the gay business centre had moved back to Molly Wood's Bush and the area contemporarily became known as simply "Church-Wellesley". Just recently a bronze statue was erected to Alexander Wood noting this history. Today Molly's Wood's Bush has, probably, Canada's largest gay community with lots of bars and clubs for leather, dance, "cheers", pubs, etc. A variety of moderate and medium priced restaurants and stores now line Church Street. Large apartment complexes are everywhere and moderate to expensive hotels are handy. Some side streets still have original houses and many of the businesses are in converted houses. All of the bars have shows at one time or another and the music can gently (because of neighbourhood noise concerns) spill out into the street as you walk by, especially in the summer. Oh and summer and gay pride week with gay pride day attracting millions is another story ...

Myrtle Beach, SC
Not much gay going on. We have two small bars and GREAT beaches.
We are a tourist town so the summers are the best but anytime you will find our southern charm warming to your soul. Come and get the sand in your underwear and I can guarantee you won't want to leave.

There are 6 gays bars now in Augusta and a big gay motel. Who would have thought that about this small southern town 10 years ago. The southeast visits us now.

Well I was born and raised here in Daytona Beach, FL 43 years ago this coming May.
In the 80's it was great there we're plenty of places to go but not now.
There is basically one bar called the Streamline Hotel, its wehre the "birth of speed" took place. Many years ago, if you now beware of hustlers. Its not very clean.
Since we are the home of NASCAR, things are backwards here. Where at the point where no city or county official knows waht to do with Daytona Beach.

Hi I live in Decatur, GA but not inside the city limits. If you like in Dekalb county you live in Decatur. On less you live in one of the other city in Dekalb. Decatur is GREAT place to live you don't have the HIGH taxes like you have in Atlanta. Only problem is there are not GAY bar's in Decatur. There is one in Dekalb county but it a old drag bar and not very good. It like sitting in a bar and having pan handlers come to you.I think it where drag queens go to die. Are Downtown area is VERY Gay Friendly. In a few places you can hold the person you love hand with any one getting real upset. We did have a gay bar here a long time ago about 20 years but it was in Downtown and the parking was very limited. Also there where going just for the Mature Mens crowd too. I do wish there was a place to go in Decatur. I don't drive any more and I like someplace near me to go.

I recommend you visiting Lima - Peru. It's a great Place. If you look for to know and meet gay people, you should go to Miraflores. Most gay locations in Lima are there, and most hotels in Lima are there too. And 5 minutes from miraflores you can find Barranco. One of the most traditional places in Lima. It's special if you wanna walk with someone special, believe me!!!, and therefore there are lots of bohemian romantic pubs which you can be in with your friends or bf.
